Forest behind the house

On Sunday Cher and I took a picnic lunch into the forest behind the house, we walked down a well worn bear trail to the end of a ridge, about a hundred metres back from the house. It was like we were in a completely different place, the birds were singing, we could hear the rushing of water not too far off and the odd loud crash that may have been the bear that was in the neighbours yard earlier that morning… It was the perfect way to say bye to the neighbourhood.

Tonight we had an open house to say goodbye to lots of people. Just at dusk our lantern tree arrived. We put it up and lit all 14 lanterns as the sun set, it's beautiful, we love it! More photos of the party and the tree are available at:

Well, things are coming together now. Two nights in a row I've woken up with anxiety dreams about leaving and not being ready. The GREAT news is that I have a new niece, Elizabeth Karen McTavish was born on Wednesday! I now have a hotel for the first two nights (1 and a half really, I get in about 2 or 3 AM), I'll be staying at the Taj Samudra. I then will meet up with some friends of Kumari, who will be hosting me for a bit, very nice of them!! Here is Elizabeth :-)
